- Artist: Drake
- Track: Take Care
- Feat. Rihanna
- Producer: Jamie xx, 40
- Album: Take Care
Perfectly capturing the mood of “luxurious melancholy” (to quote my good friend Nathan S.) that made the album so compelling, and featuring the guest vocals of one of the hottest pop songstresses in the game, the title track off Drake's sophomore set had all the makings of a radio hit. Thus, it should come as no surprise that the Young Money megastar has selected Take Care as the latest single (number four in total) off his Best of the Booth-winning LP. Originally recorded for Tribute to Gil-Scott Heron, Jamie XX's delicate yet pounding, piano-led remix of the late spoken-word icon's I'll Take Care of You is repurposed as the backdrop for Drizzy and heavyweight guest Rihanna's reflections on love and loss. Both acknowledging their scars from prior heartbreaks, the collaborators strive to rise above their respective pasts and forge a relationship of mutual trust and support. This cut is set to hit the radio airwaves tomorrow, January 17, and—for the two or three people who have yet to procure it—Take Care (the album) is still available wherever fine music is sold.
